OK, as you can tell from my lack of posts I've been BLASTED at work. No doubt busier than I've probably ever been...but having more fun than I've ever had too. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
That being said, it's tough right? You don't want work to get in the way of life. The key to things is having a great work life balance. As my new Director said to me "You've got to make sure to take care of things at home. Work will always be here." Wise words and you wonder why I love the Goog?
Anyway, with that, a few thoughts on keeping a good life balance
1) Have a plan - It's really important to have a plan to keep yourself balanced. Honestly, it doesn't matter what that plan is...just make sure it works for you and you stick to it. I work until about 4:30pm...head home for about 4 hours with the family and then jump back on. It works for me so I do it
2) Unplug - Again, not rocket science from Jeff but unplugging is key. You don't have to unplug all the time but you do need to step away at times. For me, it's phone down after work if I'm at home. I'll work but I won't be chained to the my phone.
3) Do stuff - For me a key to work life balance is doing fun stuff in your free time. Again, doesn't really matter what you do as long as you do something. Read a book, hit the beach, work out...whatever just take some time not only to unplug but recharge the batteries.
That's it this week guys, moral of the story.....find time for yourself and you'll be much less likely to burn out at your job....no matter how much you like it you WILL burn out eventually. In the words of Sublime - Hard work good and hard work fine but first take care of head"
